The 24th Longyan Cup Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Invitational Competition, hosted by Bina Jaya Ventures Sdn. Bhd. (WN Academy), Malaysia, was held on August 29 at the Setia City Convention Centre, Selangor. The event attracted approximately 1,300 contestants from various countries and regions around the world. After intense competition, contestants from WN Academy achieved numerous outstanding results, among which the "Supreme King" titles drew particular attention.

This competition featured the Elite Group, National Group, Abacus Calculation Group, and Newcomer Group, with corresponding competition content set according to participants' ages and levels. All groups adopted a time-limited answering format, testing contestants' calculation speed, accuracy, and concentration.

On the day of the competition, after completing registration, contestants participated in the opening ceremony and oath-taking ceremony as arranged by the organizers. Contestant representatives and the Chief Referee each took the oath, pledging to abide by the competition rules and uphold the principles of fairness and justice. Subsequently, the Test Paper Draw Ceremony was held, and the venue immediately entered the intense competition phase. All contestants were fully focused on answering and conscientiously completed each part of the competition.

During the competition, contestants bowed their heads to answer, writing swiftly and fluently, with writing and calculation proceeding simultaneously. As the referees announced the end of answering, some contestants had already completed all calculations ahead of others, while the rest gradually put down their pens.

During the event, contestants from WN Academy also took to the stage to perform an English-language Abacus Listening Calculation demonstration, tackling a high-difficulty calculation of 24-digit, 4-term problems on site. Contestants had to listen to and distinguish English numerical instructions and perform continuous calculations with the abacus, testing their listening comprehension, concentration, and accuracy in abacus operation.

In addition, this competition also arranged a Flash Calculation segment, which trains contestants' visual attention, instant numerical memory, and rapid reaction ability by presenting numerical information quickly. Beyond mental calculation events, the competition also arranged a robot performance, allowing contestants and parents to experience different forms of technological display.

As the various events and activities concluded one after another, the venue entered the award presentation phase, and contestants who performed outstandingly in each group came to the stage to receive their awards. Contestants from WN Academy ultimately earned five National Group "Supreme King" honours and won championships in multiple categories. The organizers expressed recognition and congratulations to all award winners, and encouraged all contestants to continue to maintain their focus and enterprising spirit, and to keep improving in their subsequent studies.

The purpose of this competition is to "promote abacus and mental arithmetic education, stimulate intellectual potential, train concentration and calculation ability, inherit the intangible cultural heritage of abacus and mental arithmetic, and cultivate scientific talent." Through organizing abacus and mental arithmetic competitions, contestants can test their learning outcomes in actual competition, further understand the educational value of abacus and mental arithmetic, and promote the inheritance and development of the intangible cultural heritage of abacus and mental arithmetic. For WN Academy, promoting abacus and mental arithmetic competitions is not only about giving contestants a stage to compete, but also about combining daily training with actual competition, allowing contestants to see their own progress through continuous practice and competition, and to accumulate experience and confidence.

The Longyan Cup Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Invitational Competition has now been held for 24 editions. Bina Jaya Ventures Sdn. Bhd. (WN Academy) will continue to provide contestants with more opportunities for learning and showcasing through training, competitions, and exchanges, enabling more children to know about and engage with abacus and mental arithmetic. While promoting abacus and mental arithmetic education, it will also contribute to the inheritance of abacus and mental arithmetic culture.
