On December 1, 2023, Li Zichen, the principal of Shenmo Rwanda School, Li Yanqing, the vice principal of Beijing Shenmo Culture Communication Co., Ltd., and Ding Lei, the director of the International Business Department, visited the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic. Cheng Beiping, Secretary-General of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic (hereinafter referred to as the WAAMA) and Executive Vice-President of the Chinese Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Association (hereinafter referred to as the CAMAA), Zhao Xiangyi, Assistant of Secretary-General of the WAAMA and Secretary-General of the CAMAA, Niu Teng, Deputy Director of the Research Center for Abacus and Mental Arithmetic of the Chinese Academy of Fiscal Sciences, attended the meeting.

Firstly, Assistant of Secretary-General Zhao Xiangyi, in conjunction with the recent key work of the WAAMA and the CAMAA, introduced the active efforts made by the WAAMA and the CAMAA in promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese intangible cultural heritage in abacus, as well as strengthening cultural exchange, integration, and mutual learning between different countries and regions. He also introduced the special program for the WAAMA's abacus and mental arithmetic certification to Principal Li Zichen and his delegation.

Next, Principal Li Zichen introduced his process of gradually liking abacus and mental arithmetic, which he did not initially understand. Through persistent learning and effort, he brought abacus and mental arithmetic to Rwanda in 2019 and promoted teaching in primary schools. After 4 years of development, the number of students enrolled exceeded 1000, and he organized multiple activities such as abacus and mental arithmetic competitions. During the introduction process, Li Zichen looked forward to the future development of Rwanda's abacus and mental arithmetic, and expressed his willingness to join the WAAMA as a member unit.

Deputy Director Niu Teng introduced Chinese Zhusuan knowledge system and the enlightening role of abacus-based mental arithmetic education from four aspects: cultural value, scientific value, educational value, and social value, based on recent research achievements. She also demonstrated the method in the Ming Dynasty of determining square root through abacus calculation on site.

After listening to the introduction, Secretary-General Cheng Beiping welcomed Shenmo Rwanda School to join the WAAMA. Secretary-General Cheng Beiping emphasized the hope that in the future, both sides can further strengthen exchanges, jointly explore the scientific value of abacus and mental arithmetic, promote International cooperation in scientific research, and make efforts to inherit and protect intangible cultural heritage of abacus and mental arithmetic, innovate and develop abacus and mental arithmeitc education, and develop civil friendship between China and Rwanda.
