The 2023 China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week Abacus Culture Seminar and Abacus (Intangible Cultural Heritage) Education Achievement Exhibition Successfully Held

On October 29th, the 2023 China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week Abacus Culture Seminar and Abacus (Intangible Cultural Heritage) Education Achievement Exhibition were successfully held in the hometown of Calculus Saint Liu Hong - Linyi, Shandong. This seminar and exhibition is one of the annual special activities of the "China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week". The conference event is hosted by the Center for International Cultural Communication of China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, Sinolingua Press, and the China Poetry Development Foundation, jointly organized by Shenmo Education, the Huayutime, and Linyi Vocational College. Cheng Beiping, Secretary-General of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic (hereinafter referred to as the WAAMA), Executive Vice President of the Chinese Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Association (hereinafter referred to as the CAMAA), Zhao Xiangyi, Secretary General of the CAMAA, and Yan Xiaoming, Director of the Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Fiscal Sciences, were invited to attend.

Cheng Beiping first expressed warm congratulations on the successful hosting of this event. Cheng Beiping pointed out that Chinese Zhusuan, as a treasure in traditional Chinese culture, has become a profound cultural soil that connects the world and advocates for a sense of community with a shared future for mankind. Cheng Beiping emphasized the scientific and educational value of abacus and mental arithmetic in developing children's intellectual potential, opening up a new path for the creative transformation and innovative development of abacus as intangible cultural heritage. Cheng Beiping stated that the inheritance and protection of abacus and mental arithmetic have a long way to go. The WAAMA and the CAMAA are willing to deepen exchanges and cooperation in the field of abacus science and culture with ASEAN and other countries around the world, and jointly promote the high-quality development of abacus as human intangible cultural heritage in the new era. 2.jpg
