[Reported by Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Taiwan, China] Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Taiwan, China, PAMA Global Abacus & Mental Arithmetic Association and Summit Global Abacus & Mental Arithmetic Association jointly hosted online courses for abacus-based mental arithmetic teacher training. Since 2023, online teaching is scheduled to start once every two months and each unit course will be 3 hours. The abacus-based mental arithmetic course will be divided into 12 topics for professional explanation and discussion from simple to deep.

On April 2, the first class was held with the theme of bad habits of addition and subtraction. Liao Zhenghui, vice chairman of the Abacus and Mental Mathematics Committee of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Taiwan, China, president of the PAMA Global Abacus & Mental Arithmetic Association and Summit Global Abacus & Mental Arithmetic Association, gave a lecture. The course was translated in real time in both Chinese and English. People from abacus circles all over the world came online. The course content aroused resonance and enthusiastic response from students, and benefited a lot.

The online course of abacus-based mental arithmetic teacher training this year has determined as: May 7 the calculation of negative number, July 2 the way of head-multiplication, the way of end-multiplication and the way of division by a multiplication table, September 3 division of over-quotient, November 5 extraction of the square root. The rest of the 2024 courses also include the following courses: virtual subtraction skills in division, making you an excellent player and coach, the combination of abacus-based mental arithmetic and mathematics, decimal multiplication and division, continuous multiplication and division calculation, cube root, omission calculation in multiplication and division, etc.
