On March 28, 2023, the 7th Meeting of the Fifth Standing Council of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic (hereinafter referred to as the WAAMA) was held via video. At the meeting, the application of the IKEN Child Development Training Center LLC Dubai, United Arab Emirates to join the WAAMA and become a council member was approved.

As the 55th member unit of the WAAMA, the IKEN Child Development Training Center LLC Dubai, United Arab Emirates which joined this time was established in August 2015. It currently has 3 branches and 262 students. The Global Education Director of the unit, Sreenevas, introduced that IKEN Child Development Training Center LLC Dubai, United Arab Emirates is an educational institution registered with the KHDA. It mainly provides abacus and mental arithmetic courses for children aged 5 to 13 in the United Arab Emirates. This course uses an abacus as a teaching aid and applies "MIT" technology (i.e. middle finger, index finger, and thumb) to stimulate the corresponding brain lobes by using six fingers of both hands to move the abacus, thereby achieving the goal of cultivating children's concentration, observation, memory, imagination, visualization ability, creative thinking, and achieving comprehensive development. According to the introduction, the course offers two classes, divided into eight levels, and also provides students with various activity opportunities including level assessment, grading examination, national and international competitions.

The WAAMA was established on October 28, 2002, and currently has 55 member units from 19 countries and regions. Since its establishment, the WAAMA has made positive contributions in promoting abacus culture, protecting traditional intangible cultural heritage, and promoting international exchanges. Especially the Competition of abacus and mental arithmetic organized by the WAAMA has been successfully held for seven times, becoming a world-renowned important event, representing a high level of global abacus cause. In 2023, the WAAMA will hold the 6th General Assembly and 8th Competition of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic, further promoting the creative transformation and development of Abacus as traditional culture.
