Notice on Soliciting the Congratulatory Letter for the 20th Anniversary of the Founding of WAAMA and the Papers for the "International Symposium on the 20th Anniversary of the Founding of WAAMA & the 9th Anniversary of Successful Inscription of Chinese Zhusuan into the List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity "

Dear members,

According to the contents of the fifth meeting of the Fifth Standing Council of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic (hereinafter referred to as “WAAMA”), the WAAMA plans to hold a series of commemorative activities for  the 20th anniversary of the founding of the WAAMA from August to October 2022. During the event, an "international Symposium on the 20th Anniversary of the Founding of WAAMA & the 9th Anniversary of Successful Inscription of Chinese Zhusuan into the List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity" will be held. In order to make preparations for various activities, relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:

1、Soliciting Congratulatory Letters

All WAAMA members are welcome to send congratulatory letters.

Founded on October 28, 2002, WAAMA is an organization jointly formed by international non-governmental abacus and mental arithmetic education and research organizations. In the past two decades, with the purpose of promoting abacus culture, driving the development of abacus and mental arithmetic, giving play to its educational role and strengthening exchanges and cooperation, WAAMA has made unremitting efforts in academic research, appraisal and competition, education of abacus and mental arithmetic, producing positive results. In particular, Chinese Zhusuan was successfully included into the list of world intangible cultural heritages in 2013 and became an intangible cultural heritage of humanity recognized by UNESCO, laying a profound cultural foundation for global development of the abacus and mental arithmetic cause. We are now soliciting congratulatory letters from all members of WAAMA. Your strong support will be quite appreciated.

2、Soliciting Papers

In order to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the founding of the WAAMA and the 9th Anniversary of Successful Inscription of Chinese Zhusuan into the List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, the WAAMA plans to hold an international symposium, which is now open to all member of WAAMA as well as global abacus and mental arithmetic practitioners to solicit papers on abacus and mental arithmetic. The paper requires standard format, distinct theme, clear organization and accurate expression. The deadline for paper solicitation is on September 10, 2022. The Secretariat will sort out the submitted papers and invite outstanding authors to make a keynote exchange speech at the "International Symposium on the 20th Anniversary of the Founding of WAAMA & the 9th Anniversary of Successful Inscription of Chinese Zhusuan into the List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity ".
