Minutes of the Fourth Meeting of the Fifth Standing Council (Video) of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic

Meeting Host: Liu Jianhua (Chairwoman of the Fifth Council of WAAMA)

The Fourth Meeting of the Fifth Standing Council of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic (hereinafter referred to as “WAAMA”) was held on the morning of November 10, 2021, Beijing time in the form of online video, with the main venue located in Beijing. The meeting should be attended by 12 members of the Standing Council and was actually attended by 11 of them. Kudo Toshikazu (Standing Council Member, Japan) sent a letter to entrust President Liu Jianhua to express his opinions on his behalf, and the Standing Council Member from the Kingdom of Tonga was absent.) The number of attendees has reached two-thirds and met the requirement of the Articles of Association, so the results of the meeting is valid.

The meeting consisted of the following topics: 1. Discussion of the 2022 Work Plan of WAAMA; 2. Discussion of issues concerning the new application for membership.

1. The Standing Council discussed the 2022 Work Plan of WAAMA. In principle, after the epidemic is under control, the Sixth General Assembly of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic & the Eighth Competition of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic of WAAMA will be held in Beijing of China in 2022, and a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of WAAMA will be held at the same time.

2. Review the applications for membership made by three companies, and the decision was made though voting by a show of hands:

2.1 ABACUS MENTAL MATHS PROGRAM of Nigeria was approved to join WAAMA and become a council member unit by a unanimous vote.

2.2 PT BAINIAN SHENMO EDUCATION INTERNATIONAL INDONESIA was approved to join WAAMA and become a non-council member unit by a unanimous vote.

2.3 EDUKIDS TECHNOLOGY SDN. BHD. of Malaysia was approved to join WAAMA and become a non-council member unit by a unanimous vote.

The members of the Standing Council attending the meeting fully affirmed the video meeting, actively provided suggestions for the work of WAAMA in 2022, and expressed their affirmation of the WAAMA Secretariat.
