Minutes of the Second Meeting of the Fifth Council of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic

     The World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic (hereinafter referred to as “WAAMA”) held its Second Meeting of the Fifth Council through video conferencing in June of 2020. According to statistics, the meeting issued a total of 38 "Review Opinion Forms". As of July 10, 2020, the final voting date, the Secretariat did not receive any objections from the directors. It reached two-thirds of the votes issued, which was in line with the provisions of the constitution of WAAMA. The meeting is effective. The relevant resolutions are hereby notified as follows: 

     1. The meeting unanimously approves " The Report on the Work of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic in 2019".

     2. The meeting unanimously approves the postponement of the Eighth Competition of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic of WAAMA in Seoul, South Korea, and the time is tentatively postponed to August 1, 2021.

     3.The meeting unanimously approves Mr. Kudo Toshikazu, New Chairman of the League for Soroban Education of Japan. Inc. succeeds Mr. Hirakami Kazutaka, former Chairman of the League for Soroban Education of Japan. Inc., as Director, Executive Director and Vice President of WAAMA. The meeting thanks Mr. Hirakami Kazutaka for his outstanding contribution to the development of the abacus and mental arithmetic business in the world.

     4.The meeting unanimously approves Federation of Korea Abacus Association to

be as the non-Council member of WAAMA and can enjoy the membership rights and assume the membership obligations from now on.

     5.The meeting unanimously approves the Special Scheme of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic for Launching the Pilot of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Grade Identification Certificate (New Edition). All members shall be administered with reference to this Scheme. (For details, please refer to WAAMA Document No. 3/2020, which will not be issued.)
