[Report by the Secretariat of Hubei Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Association, a member of The World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic] On April 26, 2021, the Sixth General Assembly of Hubei Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Association was grandly held. Zhang Xuehua (Former Deputy Inspector of Hubei Provincial Department of Finance and President of Hubei Provincial Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Association) made a report on the work of the Fifth Council; Shen Zili (Director of the Accounting Department of Hubei Provincial Department of Finance) attended the conference and delivered a speech; Huang Wenkun (Executive President of the Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Institute, Chinese Academy of Fiscal Sciences) attended and addressed the conference on invitation; and more than 120 members from all over the province participated in the conference.

At the meeting, by secret ballot, Li Xiulian was unanimously approved as the President of the Sixth Council of Hubei Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Association; five vice-presidents were elected, including Wang Yaxiong, Pang Ximin, Zhang Chunhua, Du Ying and Chen Shiyin; Yao Jia was elected as Secretary-General of the Council; and Jiao Dan was elected as the Supervisor.

Li Xiulian, the newly-elected President of the Sixth Council of Hubei Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Association made a stand speech on behalf of the new leadership group. Li Xiulian first gave high praise and affirmation to various achievements of the Fifth Council under the leadership of President Zhang Xuehua and Director Shen Zili. Li Xiulian said, in the next five years, Hubei Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Association will embrace new development opportunities, difficulties and challenges, and have a long way to go. The new Council will, under the leadership of CAMAA, Provincial Department of Finance and Provincial Department of Civil Affairs, further clarify its work objectives and ideas according to the Constitution of the Association, innovate its work ideas, adapt to the new situation, grasp new opportunities, and formulate development plans while drawing on valuable experience from previous Councils. It should promote the organization construction and further standardize the industry management of the Association centering on the inheritance of abacus culture as well as the development of abacus and mental arithmetic education. Moreover, it shall pool the power of members and give full play to the leading, serving and linking role of the Association, so as to lift the education of abacus and mental arithmetic in Hubei Province to a higher level according to the scientific development concept.
