Institutional Members of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic:

Greetings!

As of April 22, 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has spread to more than 200 countries and regions around the world, with nearly 2.5 million confirmed infection cases. COVID-19 has become a huge challenge to all mankind.

First of all, we would like to thank the Chinese Taiwan Provincial Chamber of Commerce, the League for Soroban Education of Japan. Inc., the Indonesian Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Association and Chinese American Abacus Association (CAAA) for their comforting words, encouragement and blessing to the WAAMA Secretariat during the pandemic. Meantime, we would like to give our sincere condolences and good wishes to all institutional members that are making continuous efforts to combat the pandemic.

Mutual help and sharing weal and woe is a good tradition of all members of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic. We have come together for a common cause. Now we face a common challenge. The Eighth WAAMA Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition, which is originally planned to be held in Seoul, South Korea on August 15, 2020, might be postponed to 2021. In this special period of fighting against the pandemic, unity and cooperation remain the most powerful weapon. We stand ready to share China’s epidemic prevention and control experience with our members, as well as to provide help within our capabilities. We also call on all parties to strengthen cooperation and help each other. We firmly believe that with the joint efforts of all parties, the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic will end in victory.

Last but not the least, we sincerely wish you safety and health, and all the best. Let’s look forward to the end of the pandemic and the resumption of normal life.
