The 9th Competition of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic of WAAMA was successfully held in Beijing, China on July 25, 2026. A total of 254 contestants of 28 teams from 11 countries and regions — Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, South Korea, Tonga, the United States, Uzbekistan, China, Hong Kong SAR, China, Taiwan, China — participated in the competition. Both the number of participating countries/regions and the number of contestants reached new highs in the event's history. The competition featured five groups: Group of Player, Group A, Group B, Group C, and Group D. Team events were held for all groups. Individual all-around competitions were conducted for the Group of Player, Group A, and Group B, while individual events were held for Group C and Group D. Building upon the traditional competition format, this edition further enriched the competition by introducing tablet-based events — Flash Calculation and Marathon Calculation — with two groups each for Flash Calculation and Marathon Calculation respectively, promoting the deep integration of abacus and mental arithmetic with digital and intelligent technologies. After intense competition, the lists of the Special Prize and First Prize winners for team events, as well as the Special Prize winners for individual events and optional events in each group, are hereby announced as follows:
