Recently, Joseph, Principal of Shenmo in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), met with the Chinese Ambassador to the DRC to introduce the development of the Shenmo abacus and mental arithmetic program in the country. Following the meeting, Joseph held in-depth discussions with the Ministry of Education of the DRC, and the two parties reached an important consensus on promoting abacus and mental arithmetic education.

The Ministry of Education of the DRC has explicitly expressed its intention to carry out strategic cooperation with Shenmo and plans to select local public school teachers to come to China this year to receive professional training in Shenmo's abacus and mental arithmetic program. Upon completion of the training, the abacus and mental arithmetic curriculum will be widely implemented and promoted in local public schools, helping to enhance the computational skills and cognitive thinking of students at the basic education stage. This cooperation marks a new step forward in Shenmo's international education endeavors and the global dissemination of the intangible cultural heritage of abacus, while also injecting new momentum into educational and people-to-people exchanges between China and the DRC.
The Shenmo school in the DRC was officially established in June 2024. In the same year, a delegation including the Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the DRC in China visited the Shenmo Beijing headquarters, and the China-DRC Children's Cultural Exchange Summer Camp was successfully held, building a bridge for cultural exchanges between China and the DRC as well as genuine friendships between children of the two countries.
