Notice on Convening the Third Meeting of the Sixth Council of the WAAMA & the Tenth Seminar for Academic Exchanges on Abacus and Mental Arithmetic
Members units and Council members of WAAMA:
In order to promote the development of education on abacus and abacus-based mental arithmetic, strengthen the cooperation among the member units, enlightening education function of abacus and abacus-based mental arithmetic in exploiting intelligence, the Third Meeting of the Sixth Council of the WAAMA & the Tenth Seminar for Academic Exchanges on Abacus and Mental Arithmetic are planned to be held on April, 2026 via video conference. The related matters are hereby notified as follows:
I. Meeting Time
Meeting time: April 16, 2026, Beijing time (GMT+8) 9:00-11:30am.
II.Meeting Venue
Online venue: The meeting will be held via Zoom. Meeting number and Password has sent to member units. You can use Zoom to participate in the conference on the computer or mobile phone (it is suggested to use a computer to participate in the conference and ensure the network is smooth).
On-site venue: China Hall of Science and Technology, B202-203
III. Meeting Contents
i. Convene the Third Meeting of the Sixth Council of the WAAMA
1. Summary report on the work of the WAAMA in 2025;
2. Review the work plan of WAAMA for 2026;
3. Deliberate new membership applications and withdrawal matters;
4. Discuss the preparations for the 9th Competition of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic of WAAMA.
5. Discuss on relevant works.
ii. Convene the Tenth Seminar for Academic Exchanges on Abacus and Mental Arithmetic of the WAAMA
It is planned to invite following experts for academic exchange:
Zhou Xinlin, Professor at the State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning, Beijing Normal University;
Siu Wing Man, President of the Hong Kong Mental Math Academy, Hong Kong SAR, China;
Nino Sivsivadze, Executive Director of the Competitive Mental Calculation Federation of Georgia.
IV. Requirements for Attendees
Each member unit sends 1-3 representatives to participate online.
All member units participating in the conference are requested to carefully fill out the "Acknowledgment Receipt for Attending to the Third Meeting of the Sixth Council of the WAAMA & the Tenth Seminar for Academic Exchanges on Abacus and Mental Arithmetic " (see Attachments for details). Please send the electronic version of the attachment to the Secretariat of WAAMA via email before February 28th.
If it is indeed impossible to attend the meeting, please send a letter of authorization to the Secretariat of the WAAMA and sign your signature (or stamp the seal) for confirmation, specifying which unit (or representative) you will entrust to attend the meeting and exercise voting rights on your behalf.
