Notice on Holding the 8th Competition of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic of WAAMA
Dear Members,
In order to strengthen communication and cooperation among abacus and mental arithmetic organizations around the world, promote the dissemination and development of abacus and mental arithmetic education worldwide, and build an international platform for abacus and mental arithmetic players, the 8th Competition of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic of WAAMA is scheduled to be held in Changchun City, Jilin Province, China from July 15th to 16th, 2024. The Pre-Notice of the competition has been released in Document No. 3 of 2024. The specific matters are hereby notified as follows:
I. Schedule
This activity will last for 2 days, with check-in on July 14th and return on July 17th. The detailed arrangement is as follows:
July 14th: Check in and hold a competition preparation meeting at 19:00 in the evening;
July 15th morning, the opening ceremony of competition, and the 8th Competition of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic of WAAMA;
July 15th afternoon, abacus culture show, and award ceremony of competition;
July 16th morning, academic exchange meeting for abacus and mental arithmetic teachers, and the 1st enlarged meeting of the Sixth Standing Council of WAAMA;
July 16th afternoon, visit to the Jilin Provincial Museum (including the Science and Technology Museum, and the Optical Museum);
July 17th: Return.
II. Competition Methods
Please refer to the "Pre-Notice on Holding the 8th Competition of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic of WAAMA" (WAAMA Document No. 3 /2024) dated April 25, 2024. Please attach great importance to it and submit the Questionnaire on the Team and Registration Form as soon as possible according to the requirements in Pre-Notice.
III. Meeting and Competition Venue
The Sheraton Changchun Jingyuetan Hotel. Location: No. 1777 Yongshun Road, Nanguan District, Changchun City, Jilin Province, China. Booking hotline:+86-431-81811666 (Booking Department),+86-1764022647 (Mr. Zhang).
The hotel offers discounted prices for members of the WAAMA. Please indicate the reason for your stay when booking, which is to participate in the WAAMA event. (Please refer to Attachment 1 for room type and price details)
The Sheraton Changchun Jingyuetan Hotel is a 60 minute drive from Changchun Longjia International Airport and can be reached by taxi, with a cost of approximately RMB 80. (Please fill out Attachment 2 "Acknowledgment Receipt for Attending to the 8th Competition of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic of WAAMA" and send it to WAAMA’s email before June 25th. We will arrange a personnel to guide the pick-up at the airport, train station, and other exit points.)

The room can accommodate up to two breakfasts: one for single occupancy and two for double occupancy. For cases where additional breakfast is required, if confirmed before check-in, the fee will be 50 yuan per person. If it is added the next day, the fee will be 128 yuan per person. If an additional bed is required in the room, the conference discount price is 200 yuan per sheet and includes one breakfast (confirmation is required when making a reservation for an additional bed, and the quantity is limited until the end of the reservation).
Please note that due to the high number of attendees, the hotel will prioritize reserving rooms for guests participating in this event. At the same time, the hotel will charge a prepaid room fee based on the check-in situation on that day as a guarantee for room retention.
