Mr. Hwang Ho Joong, Vice President of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic and President of the Korea Institution of International Abacus and Mathematics Association, South Korea, passed away on January 28, 2024 in South Korea.

Mr. Hwang Ho Joong is one of the founding presidents of the WAAMA, and has made significant contributions to the promotion of abacus education worldwide. He often attended various meetings of the WAAMA, led a delegation to participate in several sessions of the WAAMA’s competition, actively participated in the construction of the WAAMA, and enthusiastically participated in the development of the cause of abacus, making positive contributions to the work of the WAAMA.

Mr. Hwang Ho Joong is knowledgeable and humble, and is a respected elder who cares about his career and works tirelessly. The passing of Mr. Hwang Ho Joong is a significant loss for the world of abacus and mental arithmetic. The Chinese Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Association, and the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic deeply mourn for Mr. Hwang Ho Joong.
