Notice on Convening the Seventh Meeting of the Fifth Standing Council of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic (Video Conferencing)

Members of the Standing Council:

In accordance with the Articles of Association of the WAAMA, the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic (WAAMA) decides to convene the Seventh Meeting of the Fifth Standing Council of the WAAMA via video conferencing. The related matters are hereby notified as follows:

I. Meeting time, Meeting software

Meeting time: March 28, 2023, Beijing time (GMT+8) 9:00-10:30am.

Meeting software: The meeting will be held via Zoom. Meeting number and password have been sent to executive director's mailbox. You can use Zoom to participate in the conference on the computer or mobile phone (it is suggested to use a computer to participate in the conference and ensure the network is smooth).

II. Meeting topics

1. To deliberate on the issue of holding the Sixth General Assembly of the WAAMA in August 2023, involving the recruitment of candidates for directors from the council member units, the establishment of a new standing council, and the way, place and process to hold the general assembly.

2. To deliberate on the issue of holding the WAAMA’s 8th World Competition of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic at the same time, including the competition method, registration method, competition process and schedule, award setting, etc.

3. To discuss and determine the matters related to the solicitation activities for the 10th anniversary of the successful inscription of abacus onto the human intangible cultural heritage, including the topics and participants of the solicitation, the selection and award of the solicitation, etc.

III. Material collection

Each executive director may put forward opinions or suggestions on the holding of the Sixth General Assembly of the WAAMA and the 8th Competition of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic, as well as the preparation of the essay solicitation activities for the 10th anniversary of the successful inscription of abacus onto the human intangible cultural heritage. The secretariat will collect and summarize them as meeting materials and send them to the executive directors before the meeting. The deadline for material collection is March 17.
