In accordance with the Articles of Association of the WAAMA, the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic (WAAMA) decides to hold the Sixth Meeting of the Fifth Standing Council of WAAMA through letters. The related matters are hereby notified as follows:

I. Topics of the Meeting

To deliberate on the Work Plan of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic in 2023 (Appendix 1).

II. Deliberation and Voting of the Topics of the Meeting

Executive directors should deliberate on the above topic and submit your Review Opinion Form (Appendix 2) to WAAMA Secretariat prior to December 26, 2022. Any feedback overdue will be regarded as approval of the Work Plan.

Appendix 1

Work Plan of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic in 2023

2023 is the 10th anniversary of the inscription for the World Intangible Cultural Heritage of Chinese Zhusuan, and also the year of the General Assembly of the World Association of Abacus and Mental Arithmetic (hereinafter referred to as the WAAMA). With the gradual weakening of the impact of the COVID-19, the WAAMA will continue to promote the protection and inheritance of the intangible cultural heritage of abacus, and continue to expand the global popularization and healthy development of abacus education under the leadership of the Fifth Council in accordance with the provisions of the Articles of Association of the WAAMA.

（1） The Sixth General Assembly of the WAAMA and the Eighth Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition will be held on schedule (during which the First Meeting of the Sixth Council of the WAAMA and the First Meeting of the Sixth Standing Council of the WAAMA will be held).

（2） The Second Meeting of the Sixth Standing Council of the WAAMA will be held on schedule.

（3） To prepare for the 2023 International Teaching Seminar on abacus and mental arithmetic of WAAMA.

（4） Continue to do a good job in the construction of the WAAMA’s Network, improve the publicity effect and further expand its influence.

（5） Continue to do a good job in publishing and distributing the WAAMA News.

（6） Steadily promote the appraisal work of abacus and mental arithmetic of the WAAMA and continue to implement pilot projects in member units. At the same time, collect pilot reports from the units that have applied for pilot appraisal, and summarize experience.

（7） Pay close attention to the scientific research developments in the field of abacus and mental arithmetic in the world, strengthen communication with relevant scientific research institutions, and do a good job in popularizing scientific research achievements in a timely manner, so as to provide scientific guidance for the development of abacus and mental arithmetic in the world.

（8） Strengthen the management of members, constantly expand the number of members of the WAAMA, strengthen the relationship between the WAAMA and its member units, jointly inherit, protect and popularize the intangible cultural heritage of mankind, and popularize the enlightenment function of abacus and mental arithmetic education.
